oil pastels & trains

how european does that sound! this past weekend i took the train to richmond for my brother's performance of a chorus line. trains are my favorite. i don't have any particular reason why i love trains, but i just feel cool riding on them.

then i broke out my art history book and flipped to page 871 and read about monet. again. for about the sixth time. needless to say, i was inspired.

and finally i pulled out my oil pastels. they are my newest challenge. i'm trying to figure out how i like to use them.

the best part was we pulled up to the station and i spotted my smiling dad out the window waiting for me! im a lucky girl.

oxymoron: a giant cupcake

as part of my trip home to annapolis for thanksgiving, i was given the opportunity to paint a giant cupcake mural. this was the first, of hopefully many, paid mural painting jobs.

its always good to have a mother who is proud of you. in october we were downtown baltimore for the ravens game and on our walk back to the car we stopped in a brand new cupcakery. luckily, my momma felt the need to share my cupcake painting skills with the owner and got me a job! six of my cupcake paintings are now being told at midnite confection on federal hill in baltimore. later the owner asked if i'd paint the mural. one giant cupcake later, the owner was happy, and so was i.
